August 11– Bowel and Bladder Programs. Females meet @ 7 CST-Special guest Claire Mazzia which is doing a study on SCI women’s health. Males meet @ 8 CST.
August we are focusing on successful regimens with bowel and bladder programs that help people be more independent. We will communicate about successful bowel and bladder programs which enable people to have more fun and time for what they love and stop worrying about when and if they are going to have an accidents while out and about. Please join us for the discussion and bring your success stories to share with others.
Project Awaken presents Warriors on Wheels (WoW) support group the second Tuesday of the month @ 7pm CST. This support group is for women and men who use wheelchairs that want to get out and take action!! Take actions to enhance their own and other’s lives by building a supportive community that pushes each other to become unstoppable in the lives we want to live. Some events we will split the men and women for privacy. Like in August we are separating men and women for the bowel and bladder conversation. Men’s support group will start at 8pm same day.
After we present our educational pieces we will take on two personal challenges each month, which we will recieve support from another WoW participant.
September 8– Accessible places to go in Chicago and surrounding areas.
October 13– Pain Management / medical Cannabis
November 11– Medical trials and specialized equipment – example: FES bike, Exoskeleton.
December 8– Dating and sex after SCI. Women will meet at 7 pm and men at 8 pm.
All meetings will be recorded and added to the Project Awaken Website with resource links.
